Michael Bay's Transformers DVD Review

FILM REVIEW: "Transformers" is fun. It's the ultimate boys' movie, about giant, intelligent robots who can change in to cars, planes and other vehicles while the good robots and bad robots battle each other with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance. For director Michael Bay, he has finally made a film that has merit, namely because he takes his best technical attributes and applies them to a story that naturally fits his talents. It's no surprise that "Transformers" is also his most successful film to date. Although there are some moments of silliness and American chest-beating which are so common in Bay's films, for the most part, this film manages to do a very good job of delivering a visual spectacle, big action sequences and a story that is just strong enough to hang these elements in place without seeming contrived.

The story is simplicity itself. Sam Witwicky, played with a lot of heart by an enthusiastic Shia LaBeouf, is the average teenager who wants the hottest girl in school but can't figure out how to sell himself. All that changes when he selects his first car (a present from his dad) which turns out to be the Autobot "Bumble Bee". Unwittingly, Sam and his new friend Michaela (Megan Fox) are drawn in to the battle between the Autobots and the Deceptions. Each side is trying to find the All-Spark, a cube which has the power to create life. Sam has the secret to its location scratched on the surface of his grandfather's glasses. The rest of the film is a race to find the All-Spark before the evil Megatron (voiced by an unrecognisable Hugo Weaving) and his Deceptions find it first.

Shia LaBeouf proves to be an effective leading man, giving he's playing a teenager and has to hold our attention whenever the Transformers are not on screen. Megan Fox provides the requisite eye candy as the love interest, but also manages to be feisty and tough, particularly in the action scenes that climax the film. Jon Voight is his usual solid self as the Secretary of Defense. The rest of the ensemble is equally effective, all creating solid, likeable characters which are actually endearing and not irritating as with other Michael Bay films.

The visual rendering of each Transformer on screen is one reason alone to watch this film. Given they are fully computer generated, the amount of detail and care which has been put in by the visual effects team is so astonishing that you would think they were filmed for real. This is no more apparent than in the big action sequences, undoubtedly the film's biggest selling point, where the robots are on display in full sunlight, making astonishing mid-air manoeuvres as they battle each other to the death. There's one sequence where a Decepticon who moves like an ice-skater crashes through a bus before performing a rugby tackle on its opponent that is one of many jaw-dropping sequences, particularly with Bay's use of slow motion.

The flaws in this film stem from Bay's occasional slips back to his over-stylised technique. To be fair, he's actually quite controlled and disciplined with this film, but there are some moments that still have the more unfortunate Bay trademarks stamped all over them. A reference to a Transformer being better than "Armageddon" is cringe-worthy. I guess it's just his style, and Bay deserves points for better focusing his technique in this film, even if he occasionally lapses back to his usual tricks.

"Transformers" is a fun, enjoyable blockbuster that looks fabulous on DVD; despite some silly moments and Bay's usual excessiveness in certain areas, the film will entertain you thoroughly during its entire running time while shaking the floors of your home theatre in the process!

TECHNICAL REVIEW: The presentation of this film on DVD is technical perfection. The picture looks absolutely spectacular, particularly in all the big Michael Bay action sequences. All the images are crisp, clean and clear, with magnificent colours. The audio soundtrack is spot on, and is great to use as a test for how hard to push your surround sound system. A perfect transfer.

EXTRAS REVIEW: The extras package is very extensive, offerring a number of features that cover the making of the film in great detail. On the first disc is the audio commentary from Michael Bay, which is extremely informative, but also gives you an insight in to the man behind some of the most hyper-stylised, hyper-energised and hyper-edited films in recent memory. The second disc contains a wealth of featurettes, split in to three distinct sections. The first is OUR WORLD which has four lengthy documentaries focusing on story development, the casting process, the use of the US Army in the film, and the location selected. The second is THEIR WAR which is again broken up in to four lengthy documentaries focusing on the original Transformers cartoon, the selection of cars for each autobot and the car companies which sponsored the film, a look at the Decepticons and their development, and a look at the incredible visual effects developed by ILM and Digital Domain. The third is MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE, which has featurettes on the Desert Sand attack, concepts for the film and the theatrical trailers. It's an incredible set of detailed and informative extras, making for over three hours of quality additional viewing to the main feature.

BOTTOM LINE: Worth having in the collection.

How to Turn Your Digital Info Products Into Physical Products Quickly and Easily

If you sell digital info products such as a downloadable course online, you may be interested to know that there is a quick and easy way to multiply your income quickly and easily. By turning your digital info products into physical products, you immediately increase the number of potential customers you can sell to, and you also increase the perceived value of your product at the same time.

Read on to discover the two quickest and easiest ways to do this, starting today.

System One: Turn Your Digital Products Into Physical CD or DVD Roms

By offering your digital products shipped by mail on DVD or CD Rom to your customers, you can easily charge many times more than you are currently charging for the same information in downloadable format. That's because customers not only appreciate the convenience of having the information available on physical media that they can store, but the one time effort you put into creating the artwork for the cover and disc art can also raise the percieved value of the information.

The best part is, it's just as easy to set up a system that burns and ships physical CD or DVD Roms of your info-products to your customers as it is to set them up for sale as digital downloads. Thanks to services such Kunkaki.com, you can upload your data and artwork one time to their servers. After that, you can take orders and have them manufactured and dropshipped automatically to your customers by integrating these services with scripts and software such as Auction Acrobat.

System Two: Turn Your Digital Products Into Physical Print Courses

With each passing day, the perceived value of information in digital PDF format decreases more and more. Because of this people are turning back to physical books - something with actual paper pages they can turn in their hands and refer to whenever they want, without having to turn their computers on. The upside is, people are willing to pay a premium for information in this format, if it is information they are looking for.

Thankfully, print on demand (POD) services such as Lulu.com have now advanced to the point where it is a simple and easy process for you to upload the PDFs of your digital products and have them instantly turned into printed books - or even better, spiral bound manuals.

As with the CD and DVD rom option, just by providing your info products as manuals or courses in printed format and by adding a little extra additional effort on the cover art, you can easily charge a much higher price, and still get the same or better conversion rates.

Furthermore, you can expand the number of customers you can market to, since your physical books can also be offered on sites such as Amazon.com.

If you're still looking for a way to quickly and easily create multiple profitable niche info products to sell in a variety of formats, you may want to try using the Instant Niche Product Machine. You can learn all about it now by visiting: Instant Niche Product Machine

Online DVD Rental - Competing With In-Store Exchanges

Blockbuster's name in online DVD rental is often second to the industry leader Netflix. Blockbuster joined the online DVD rental industry years after Netflix. This left Blockbuster to play catch up. The one advantage that Blockbuster used to gain market share was their thousands of in town locations. They began offering in-store exchanges of DVDs with their online DVD rental program. This is something that Netflix could never compete with. Consumers could now choose from not only DVDs through the mail but using their local store for exchanges.

This was ideal for holidays and days when you didn't receive any new movies to watch. Also, stores were open on the weekends, and DVDs through the mail were mailed only on weekdays. It provides a way out of the title you forgot to send back or a movie you really don't like.

Netflix began fighting back this competitive angle of Blockbuster with streaming content direct to your computer. Netflix now offers 20,000 different titles for consumers to choose from and there are sent direct to their computers for viewing.

The idea of online DVD rental is based is the idea of entertainment delivered direct to your home. You never have to leave the house because your entertainment comes to you. The idea that you can get streamed content direct to your computer is much more powerful than in store exchanges for three reasons. First, the content you are allowed in unlimited all plans except the low cost plan that allows only two hours. Secondly, the total number offerings are excess of 20,000 titles. This is often larger than the average DVD rental store. This number will only continue to grow. It will grow as the demand for this type of entertainment increases from consumers. Third is the fact that the need for movie watching is filled immediately. The satisfaction is within seconds of you booting your computer. You do not need to leave the house and go to the store.

The idea of the difficult for those of us that are not computer inclined exists, but what are you doing if you are renting DVDs online to begin with. You need a computer and some basic skills to join an online DVD rental program in the first place. So the next step is watching selections online. Furthermore, this might just be the beginning of other forms of entertainment from the internet besides YouTube and surfing.

Cloverfield DVD Review

FILM REVIEW: "Cloverfield" is one of those movies that hits the monster-movie genre mark on the head, providing escapist fun and thrills, but managing to do it in a very unique style by utilising the "Blair-Witch" home video technique to tell the story (but doing it much better than "Blair-Witch"). In this film, a monster the size of the Empire State Building terrorises New York City, destroying everything in its path. As a growing battle ensures between the monster and the army, a small group of New Yorkers, who just happen to have a handicam with them, document the whole incident from their point of view as they try to escape the bedlam. The film is a lot of fun, and although it does not always believably work, the unique style in which it is shot combined with the monster genre trademarks make for some strong, entertaining viewing.

The first Act, and probably the weakest part of the film, is the set up of all the characters at a going away party. It is a little too long, and is by and large filled with teenage melodramas. The style and interesting use of flashbacks that occur when the cameraman stops filming to rewind and watch some footage are established quite well and orientate you in to the film successfully while giving you some back-story on the characters, even though some of the dialogue and interactions are far from interesting. The film kicks in to high gear when the party guests experience what feels like an earthquake; they go to the roof to see what is going on and see an explosion on a skyscraper in the distance. What follows is the best scene in the film when for several minutes, all hell breaks loose, culminating in the head of the Statue of Liberty flying through the air and crashing to a halt on a New York street. From then on, we follow the core group of characters, and the cameraman filming everything, as they try to escape from New York.

The monster is used just the right amount throughout the film. For the first half of the film, you see a tail here, or an arm there; an exciting sequence on the Brooklyn Bridge when all you see is the monster's tail crash down on the bridge, killing off what we believe to be one of the major characters in the film and destroying the bridge is shocking and quite scary because only seeing a flash of something out of the corner of your eye (which is how this scene is presented) is often scarier than seeing it in full detail. As the film continues, the monster is revealed more and more, with the biggest moment occurring when our unfortunate cameraman finds himself at the feet of the monster; he gets several seconds to film the monster before getting eaten. I must say however, I would love to get the model of camera that was used because it manages to survive the biting motions inside the monster's mouth, before falling to the ground and perfectly framing itself on the face of the cameraman who is now dead. Ridiculous, but it is all part of the fun.

Director Matt Reeves shows some clever inventiveness to the staging of the scenes to maintain the home video feel without, for the most part, looking as if it were staged (although there are some sequences which are a little too convenient to have been caught off the cuff). He manages to surprise us on many occasions, particularly in two sequences where we see off-spring of the monster rolling off its back in news footage, as well as the sequence where one of the characters explodes after being bitten by one of the off-spring. Also, his use of night-vision in the subway attack sequence is brilliant, where we only see glimpses of the monsters here and there, but there is a lot of scuffling and fighting on the soundtrack, making for an effectively tense and eerie atmosphere.

"Cloverfield" is ideally suited to DVD; the jerky home-video shots were quite uncomfortable to watch on a cinema screen but are quite enjoyable in the comfort of your own home. Coupled with the fact that it was shot on high-def and looks raw lends itself to the DVD medium perfectly.

If there is a down-side to this film is that some of the shots are too convenient to have been filmed handicam style. There was probably no way around this, but some of the shots in the second half of the film which manage to frame the monster in just the right way stand out immediately as not being spontaneous. Another problem in watching the film is the idea of it being a gimmick; even at 81 minutes, the style of the film can became annoying to your senses (which would have been exacerbated if you had seen it in the cinema).

"Cloverfield" is fun entertainment, shot in a unique style that takes full advantage of the monster-movie conventions while delivering the thrills and excitement you would expect.

TECHNICAL REVIEW: Although this film received a theatrical release in cinemas, it was ideally suited for the DVD medium. Shot on high-definition digital video with home video style camera angles, the film is perfectly represented on DVD, with a fantastic video transfer that takes advantage of the medium within which the film was shot. The jerky camera movements appear more crisp and clear on a television screen as opposed to a cinema screen. The audio transfer is spectacular, making full use of the surrounds, particularly whenever the monster shows up. The sequence where all hell first breaks loose culminating in the decapitation of the State of Liberty is well worth experiencing on your system. Overall, an excellent transfer.

EXTRAS REVIEW: The extras package on this DVD is decent. The first disc contains an informative audio commentary by director Matt Reeves, as well as a "Cloverfield Supplementary Files" feature which when activated, will populate an icon on the screen while you watch the film, giving you access to a specific featurette associated with the scene you are watching (with over twenty featurettes covering everything from casting to behind the scenes material). The second disc contains more traditional extras such as a Making-Of Documentary and featurettes, deleted and extended scenes with optional audio commentaries, as well as an alternate ending with optional audio commentary. Overall, a decent complement of extras which will given you a good insight in to what made this film.

BOTTOM LINE: Worth having in the collection.

These all are genuine questions normally business owners have when they heard or wanted to hire a VA and need answers for these questions as well.

What is a Virtual Assistant?

A Virtual Assistant is a skilled person that does variety of jobs that includes but not limited to Administrative Jobs, Computer Online/Offline work, Web based work and the person who work virtually for you. By use of modern communication tools a VA work in his own office for you and send the completed task back to client via, E-Mail, Fax, IM, Phone etc. You don't need to meet your VA to get your task completed when you and assistant can communicate about job via mail and phone.

Who hire a VA?

Any business professional can hire a virtual assistant some of them are Real Estate Agents, Small Business Owners, busy entrepreneur that can hire a virtual assistant and get benefits of the services a virtual assistant provide. The best way to use a VA is that they can be used on an "as-needed" basis;

How can they complete my work without even meeting?

These days the modern communications technology allows work to be completed from any part of the world. Normally, Client sends the details of work need to be done via e-mail or phone to a VA and in a same way your virtual assistant will upload the completed work back to web or e-mail to you. This is completely the responsibility of the VA to complete the work on time and to make sure client gets it.

How a virtual assistant is more beneficial than an assistant in my office?

Some of the common factors hiring a virtual assistant is that, VA has its own set of equipments, software's, training in which a client need not to invest. A client need not to pay for his employee benefits, insurance, taxes, sick pay, vacation pay and in fact not even while sitting idle. A virtual assistant is the one who will charge you only for the time spent on a particular project.

One of the benefits engaging a va is that having another person in your office you need to arrange one more desk, computer and other office equipments with the cost maintenance as well. In case of virtual assistant they have their own work place, hardware, equipments and maintenance etc. When a business owner compares all these things between hiring an in-house employee and VA, VA will be the one comes out far cheaper option.

How much they charge for a work?

In India the labor cost is really very cheap in comparison with other countries. The general price range a virtual assistant in India ranges from $5 to $10 per hour depending on the work needs to be done. Many Virtual Assistants works on a fixed fee per project as well, in this case generally client has an idea how many hours needed to complete a particular project and this is really a good option to pay fixed fee for a project instead of hourly paying.

A client needs to find a VA who is skilled enough to meet the requirement of the work needs to be done. The most important factor while finding a virtual assistant is not a skill and not even the charge of project, the only thing required is do you match the VA as per your requirements and do they match with your requirement? How To Get Top-Quality Japanese Anime DVD Downloads

Presently, there is a constant rise in demand for Japanese Anime DVD downloads. Anime enthusiasts are on the height of searching the superior quality videos from various sites. Download sites therefore also increase. Due to this, the search for the best download site becomes a little bit tricky.

Japan is where the Anime fad started. Actually, it is developed from Manga, a Japanese style of drawing. Anime is a Japanese disambiguation for the animation of Manga. Today, Anime are manipulated with the aid of computers. However, it was traditionally done manually by the hands.

The World Wide Web serves as the home for a lot of Japanese Anime DVD downloads that claim of holding the best deal. However, you should not immediately believe their propositions. In fact, there are only a small amount of sites that can give you the best downloads of superior quality.

There are some guidelines that you need to ponder upon before you position your pointer over a link. The first decision to make is your choice between a pay site and a free site. Always remember that a site without fee can only hold a very limited number of titles. You may also experience a higher risk of getting your computer infected by spyware and adware when you choose to settle for a free site.

Real Japanese Anime fans will definitely settle for pay sites. Only pay sites can offer you the superior quality of downloads that you are constantly searching for. Do not be afraid that it could not fit your budget because several sites holding Japanese Anime DVD downloads come in reasonable prices. Another thing, files are usually safe and clean from pay sites because they always filter their contents.

When you finally made up your mind and decided that a pay site is the right choice for Japanese Anime DVD downloads, you should then decide if you will prefer a pay once over a paid movie download site. If you are planning to start a collection and to satisfy the avid fan in you, pay once site is the right choice. Paid movie sites are only good for one time viewers.

Pay once download sites are perfect for the real serious Anime lovers. It is the most economical choice if you are really planning to start a treasured collection. Pay sites can allow you to download Anime DVDs until you drop.

Although it can really be tricky, do not allow yourself to fall into the bait of free download sites. Weight first the advantages and disadvantages of free sites against pay sites then you will realize that pay sites are the best deals after all. Basing from my and my colleagues' experiences, the best deal of Japanese Anime DVD downloads are mostly in pay once sites.

Five Reasons to Love Macintosh Computers

If you've never owned an Apple computer, you don't know what you're missing. On the other hand, if you regularly use Macintosh computers, you understand that once you have a Mac, you'll never go back. An Apple Macintosh - whether it's a MacBook, a Mac Pro, or an iMac - takes personal computing to a whole new level. I bought my first iMac in 1998, have upgraded twice, and am still happy as a proverbial clam. Here, then are five reasons to love the Apple Macintosh.

1. Cool elegance. If there's one thing Steve Jobs knows how to do, it's designing electronics that are ultra-cool yet beautifully elegant. Why have a cumbersome big box desktop computer when you can have everything you need in an elegant iMac? Behind that clear, bright 16:10 aspect ratio monitor is the entire computer, including a DVD drive and a 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor. There's even a webcam built into the iMac so you can video chat or video conference whenever the whim strikes.

2. Intuitive functionality. Even though Windows copied the friendly desktop interface from Apple Macintosh, they still haven't been able to get it right. Navigating the Mac's interface is truly intuitive, engaging, and just downright fun. With a mobile computing product like the MacBook, you can take full computing functionality wherever you go. And, wherever you'll go, you'll always be connected, since the MacBook automatically finds nearby wireless networks and gives you nearly instant online access.

3. Digital living. Macintosh computers are designed to embrace the digital lifestyle. MacBooks and iMacs come with iLife, a wonderful array of applications that let you effortlessly share photo albums, record podcasts and songs, and even create and edit movies. You can even publish your creations on the Web with a single click. How cool is that?

4. Bug-free. If you've been wrestling with Vista the past few months (or any other Windows operating system, for that matter), you don't know the meaning of freedom. Macintosh computers' operating systems are bug-free, and as for upgrades, you get to choose when to receive software update notifications, and always have the choice of updating now or in the future. Mac simply isn't intrusive; you get to control technology, instead of having technology control you.

5. Workhorse. Macintosh computers are more than a way to frolic in your spare time. They're also workhorses. For years, graphic artists and publishers have almost exclusively used Macs for work. With the Mac Pro, you can get Adobe Creative Suite 3, a suite of tools specifically designed for creative professionals. Whether you're a web designer, a graphic artist, an art director, or a video professional, Adobe Creative Suite 3 will make your work easier, better, and more fun.

There are those who say that Macintosh computers are limited in that much of the available software is only compatible with PCs. My experience is that my Mac can do anything a PC can do - and do it better. But for those die hards who insist that they can't live without Windows, the next version of Mac OSX, Leopard, will allow you to install Windows XP on the Mac. Right now, you can run Windows in emulation mode...although for the life of me, I don't understand why you would want to!

DVD Duplicators For Data Transfer

The need for multiple data at same time makes it necessary that data need to be duplicated and multiple copies of the same data are circulated to meet the diversified needs. And if the quantity of data is large, then you need to have something that can store volumes of data and transfer it to the destination. Microboards Blu Ray duplicators are categorized amongst the prominent SATA driven DVD duplicators making the buzz in the market today. The duplicators are available in variety of capacities and have the efficiency to duplicate from few DVDs to thousands of DVD copies in just few minutes, from the master DVD. Microboards Blu Ray duplicators have high performance, and they record the media seamlessly with no loss in bits, and the data quality also remains intact.

There are models available in Blu Ray duplicators that feature world's most advanced functions in the form of DHP technology'. The technology creates equal space partition on the hard drive as that of master disc, and in this manner ensures maximum of HDD space. There is also integrated in the duplicators 'Master Error Proof technology' which allows the user to replace corrupted master disc and you will not be wasting your blank DVD. Another popular DVD duplicator is Tower DVD Duplicators manufactured by Blu Ray, LG etc. and which are widely used for commercial purposes. The DVD duplicators are ideally designed as tower systems that work well to duplicate most DVD formats including DVD+R, DVD-R and DVD+R Dual Layer. Tower DVD duplicators come in package of 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 DVD layers and gives the user plenty of opportunity to mass duplicate the DVDs. The best part is that differentiates Tower DVD duplicators from a Standalone DVD duplicator is that you don't need a computer system to duplicate the DVD. And this also accounts for the reason why there is no need for the USB 2.0 device. Whether it is a Microboards Standalone DVD duplicator or a tower system, you are always assured against duplication session failure. There is high reliability and super duper speed to allow duplication of DVDs. The best part is that there will be no potential damage to DVDs.

Microboards is a symbol of trust and security. The duplicators manufactured by them are adaptable to work with or without computer, and across the platforms. Try one for your requirements and see the difference!

Caitlina Fuller is a freelance writer. Microboards Blu Ray duplicators are categorized amongst the prominent SATA driven DVD duplicators making the buzz in the market today. Affordable Computer Maintenance

The world is becoming solely dependent on computers. Nearly all American families have a PC in their homes and are connected to the Web. We all depend on these machines for everyday tasks, such as e-mail, bill paying, reports, etc. It is very frustrating when our computers fail and these tasks cannot be completed. That is why is is extremely important that we keep current with our computers maintenance, just as we would care for our vehicles that we rely on to transport us to work, or to get our children where they need to be safely.

One of the most important things you can do to protect and prolong your computer is purchasing and installing an anti-virus/spyware software. There are many viruses out there in the web, that can be disastrous to your computer. Even though the user may not detect these viruses, they can hang out in your system and destroy your computer. The software will prevent this from happening and worn you when these virus are attacking your computer so that you can get rid of them. It will periodically scan your system and give you an update as to what is present and ask to fix it.

Computer updates for the programs you may already have are also very important. You may have seen these notices pop up on your screen when you are using it. These updates are beneficial to your computer, they keep information current, and reduce the risk of unwanted bugs. As a warning, it is best to manually update these, rather than having them automatically done. This should be done at least once every other week, to ensure best computer performance.

"Cleaning house" is also beneficial to your computer. Go through files and folders and delete any information that is useless. This keeps a clean clutter free processing area for the computer to preform the request that it is asked to do, with more speed and fewer errors.

Lastly, and one of the most important components is defragmentation. This process helps organize programs within your computers system, so that they can be found easily and quickly with out confusion. When you add programs information can get moved around and mixed up. This is a free process that is provided to you when you purchase your Windows PC.

These are some of the easiest and most affordable maintenance processes you can do to help your computer. Except for purchasing your anti-virus software, it is free! Make sure to keep up with these tips. You'll be thankful for the quick, error free performance of your computer.

Online Business Opportunities Exist in Out of Print Publications

Creating a new or original product for your online market can be a daunting task. I found a way of bringing new life to out of print publications. To learn that a particular book you are after is "out of print" can be the source of much frustration. I saw this however as a great opportunity to start an on-line business.

My Brother-in-law's late Father "Jack McDonogh" was a successful artist, art teacher and author of three books and a video. The video and two of the books were on watercolour painting for beginners and one book was on pencil sketching. I believed that the sketching and painting techniques that Jack had spent more than 40 years developing would still be applicable today (although they have been out of print for more than twenty years).

I entered into a joint venture with Jack's family to have the publications re-launched in new formats. Fortunately the family had copies of the original publications in very good condition. It was crucial to have a top quality job done on the scanning as being an art book that the artist would no doubt want to print it out, rather than refer to it on a computer screen. This meant that I paid for an expert to do the scanning, as when i did it myself on my office scanner I lost too much detail in the illustrations.

I was fortunate to have found a copy of Jack's video that despite being twenty two years old, was still in great condition. With the conversion it was possible to free up the region codes that you would normally use to limit the DVD to one region, eg. region 1 is USA, region 4 is Australia. This meant the DVD would play in all regions. The Pal and NTCS format difference has been overcome by the fact that most modern DVD players will play either format. Also DVD players installed in a computer will play either format.

Before I went ahead and spent money having the first book scanned and setting up my web site I first had to ensure if there was still a market for these publications. Firstly I monitored ebay for about 6 months for the sale of used copies of Jack's books.By saving the search for Jack's name on ebay meant that I received an email whenever anyone listed an item using Jack's name in the title. I was able to see that there was a fairly regular sale of used copies and that they attracted multiple bidders and sold for a reasonable price. I was also able to check using Google how many sites were online selling similar products and by monitoring the sponsored links using Pay Per Click advertising the number of sites that would be actively competing with me.

I also approached locally run art classes run out of the art supply shop to ensure that the content and techniques that Jack had developed over twenty five years ago was still applicable today. The feedback from both the students and teachers was very positive.

To be able to copy and sell Jack's publications without breaching copyright laws I first had to obtain the owners of the copyright, Jack's family, permission to use their fathers work and I also had to contact the original publishers of the books and video to have the publishing rights reassigned back to Jack's family. As the publications were out of circulation for more than twenty years and the books publishing company had been taken over by another publishing company this took some detective work on my part and some time but was worth it in the end.

As I didn't know of anyone else that had already done this sort of project that I could call on for advice, I found there was some indirect information available online and although I don't live in a city I found there were people and resources available locally that I could tap into to achieve my goal. I believe that there may be other individuals that may have a similar opportunity to relaunch an out of print publication online that would still appeal to a niche market.

Richard D Williams

A Registered Nurse who lives in Bathurst Australia and I am seeking to create an online income from the relaunch of out of print art publications. The latest re-release is of the insturctional art publications of the late master artist, art teacher and author Jack McDonogh (1916 -1994). Jack spent more that 40 years developing his techniques, and had his life long contribution to the art world ackowledged when Jack was awarded a honorary Master of Arts degree and had a new building named after him at the University where he taught art.

Jack's step by step publications are for the beginner level artist who needs to be able to pencil sketch or paint landscapes in watercolours. Jack taught thousands of art studentds and now his publications can assist a whole new generation of budding artists.

Maybe you hold the copyrights for an out of print publication (not necessarily art related)that is still relevant today, that you would like to see re-launched online? Maybe I can be of assistance to you in your venture? I would love to hear from you if this is the sort of project you are considering undertaking.

Theater vs DVD - Go Out Or Stay Home?

Watching a movie is a great way to escape reality for a few hours. Whether it is a drama that requires your full attention or a comedy that has you laughing the entire time, movies have been and will continue to be a great hobby/time waster/escape for almost anyone. While watching movies in a theater has its advantages spending time at home watching DVDs is overall the better experience.

The movie theater does have one huge advantage over home viewing, the gigantic projection screen and the amazing surround sound speakers. However that is generally where the advantages of the theater end. Purchasing a big HD television is becoming a much less expensive endeavor than it used to be and surround sound these days is pretty cheap as well. Even without these luxury items however the movie viewing experience at home more than makes up for its lack of technical superiority with other much more pleasant advantages.

First and foremost is the lack of strange moviegoers. Everyone has sat in front of someone who kicks the seat or sat next to the teenager on their cell phone. At home this is not an issue. If someone in the house is being loud feel free to yell at them to quiet them down. Most likely however that would not be an issue unless you live with total strangers however.

Another great advantage of the home theater is the power of control. Bathroom and snack breaks are not an issue when you can simply pause the movie and resume watching when you get back. Also if you want to see that amazing car chase scene again then feel free to simply hit the back button on your remote and watch it again!

An issue that has popped up semi-recently with movie theaters is the cost now associated with them. A movie ticket at my local theater costs $10. Now add another one for my girlfriend plus a few $4 boxes of candy and drinks and all of a sudden I have spent nearly $30 for two hours of entertainment. Now admittedly buying a DVD would cost about $20 but renting one would cost about the same price as that box of Junior Mints in the theater.

Movie theaters also have a strict no talking policy. This is a necessity of course to watch a movie in the theater and when spending the above amount of money it is clear that this policy is a good one. However some of the best movie watching experiences that I have had involved a group of friends watching a comedy (something like Wedding Crashers or Superbad) and just having a great time that involved a lot of talking and quoting of movie lines. Obviously in a theater this would be frowned upon.

So despite the lack of a giant projection screen and surround sound speakers watching a DVD at home is a much more favorable experience than going to the theater. Of course there are some movies that almost require you (or at least require me) to see them the day they are released, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for example, but there are plenty of movies that are not worth the cost or patience it would take to see them in the theater.

Theatrical Thrillers - The Most Terrifying Movie Characters For Your Halloween Marathon!

Now that the Halloween season is just around the corner, a lot of Halloween fanatics will find their own versions of fun. The party-going ghouls will probably get themselves into a bloodthirsty frenzy by going to the most happening parties in town. The little terrors will probably be busy trick or treating and lovers of the music of the night will definitely be at their local gothic rock or chamber music concerts. But what is left for the video loving vamp and the film-loving freaks to do? Why go on a movie marathon of course!

But connoisseurs of the dark art such as yourself can't just go around watching any run off the mill movie villain from any run off the mill movie. You deserve only the best and the scariest to fill your nights with thrills and chills. And guess what, you're in luck! Because here are a few of the most frightening horror movie characters to stalk the shadows of every movie marathon:

- Michael Myers: What better way to kick of Halloween than with the man who starred in the aptly titled movie himself? If being locked in a mental asylum for murdering your older sister isn't bad enough, wearing that evil mask, breaking out of it and engaging in new and ever bloodier killing sprees should certainly do it. This remorseless and brutal character is a definite fixture in movie marathons of every season.

- Reagan MacNeil/Pazuzu: Which horror movie character has elicited more screams, disturbed more old-timers and broken more records than the possessed Regan MacNeil in the movie 'The Exorcist'. Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of it is the innocence of Linda Blair's most famous character ever tainted with the evil of the demon Pazuzu.

- Norman Bates: Nothing is more frightening than an evil character that you can so easily mistake for a normal guy or gal. And that's exactly what you get with Alfred Hitchcock's pet character in the movie 'Psycho'. You would actually think that Norman Bates was a likable character until you discover that he is a homicidal maniac that took over his mother's persona. Now that is freaky.

These are only a few of the many great movie monsters that have terrified their way into movie marathon immortality. So if you want your Halloween full of devilishly good movie characters, view the entire list at: http://crunkish.com/top-ten-most-terrifying-horror-movie-characters/

Touch Screen DVD Players

Technology is such a wonderful thing. It has helped us live our lives faster and easier. It has created a lot of wonderful new products that entertain and help us in our daily needs. However, constantly changing technology can also be a little overwhelming; making even the easiest tasks, such as choosing a touch screen DVD player, hard and quite a bit confusing.

With many touch screen DVD players available in the market, it may be quite a challenge to choose which player suits your needs the most.

Here's a little guide for you to follow when buying a touch screen DVD player.

Is it complete?

There is nothing worse than paying good money for a touch screen DVD player that lacks other components. Check the model or manufacturing number of your touch screen DVD player to make sure that you are buying the right one and make sure that you are getting all the features you wanted.

Also, check with the store or with the website (do some research beforehand if you have to) if they are offering packages, such as additional speakers, amplifiers, etc. with your touch screen DVD player. These packages will help you enhance your movie watching experience.

Will you be able to connect your USB storage devices, memory cards and other digital storage formats to your touch screen DVD player?

Although, the primary use of your player is to play DVD's, it is best to check if your player has additional features such as memory card slots and USB ports. Most DVD players nowadays allow you to play formats other than the DVD. These additional functions are great when you want to view pictures, short videos, films and other digital formats from your computer or download them straight from your camera to your home entertainment system.

Check your touch screen DVD player for these options so that you can get your money's worth.

What digital formats does your player support?

If your touch screen DVD player allows you to connect external digital storage devices then it would be smart to check what kind of file formats it plays. Does it play .avi, .mp3 and .mpeg formats? Make sure that it supports all the formats that you want to view.

What region DVD's does this player accept?

Over the years, DVD's are becoming increasingly multi-regional but that doesn't necessarily mean that every touch screen DVD player will play every DVD you have. It is best to check which region of DVDs is played by your player. Make sure that this region is compatible with the region of your DVD's.

Many touch screen DVDs come with 4-channel high power speakers with sub outputs. Sets also include full function remote control and car mounting hardware. These days, you even get in-dash touch screen DVD players that come with a large number of helpful features. For instance, there are DVD players with Telephone Mute Trigger wires and Brake screen safety triggers.

7elephants.com offers large range of Car DVD Players at wholesale prices. We have exclusive deals on mono block, digital, 2 channel & 4 channel car amplifiers to choose from.

Blu-Ray Technology in a Nutshell

Just when you finally ditched all those VHS tapes in favor of DVD, another technology comes out promising even better picture quality and gobs of storage capacity - Blu-ray technology. But what exactly is a Blu-ray disc and is it worth the upgrade?

If Blu-ray sounds like a sci-fi laser beam to you, you're on the right track. No, it's not an alien death ray gun. While Blu-ray discs are sure to feature plenty of B movies crawling with aliens, the technology behind the format is high tech. Traditional DVD players use red laser beams to read and write the data. These red laser beams do the job however the blue-violet lasers that Blu-ray recorders and Blu-ray players use is far superior. The shorter wavelength of the blue lasers allows for greater focusing precision and tighter packaging of data.

A Blu-ray disc can hold more than five times the amount of data than a DVD disc, up to 50 gigabytes. And the Blu-ray technology promises to evolve with rumors of a multi-layer 200GB Blu-ray disc in the works. Now that's impressive! Imagine getting the entire Star Wars series on a single disc. The technology supports additional layering so today's Blu-ray players will be able to play tomorrow's multi-layer discs.

A key reason to consider investing in a Blu-ray player or recorder is to take advantage of its high definition capabilities. What good is that 50-inch HD plasma TV if you can't enjoy your movies in all their HD glory? Major movie studios support Blu-ray technology with many now releasing movies exclusively in the Blu-ray format. You won't have to toss your DVD collection either as Blu-ray players are backwards-compatible with DVDs.

If you remember the days of Betamax versus VHS, you may be concerned about format wars. Get over it! Major manufacturers including Sony, Apple, Hitachi, HP, Dell, JVC, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, LG, Pioneer, TDK, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, and Thomson are all on board and each played a part in the joint development of the Blu-ray technology.

The future is here folks. Now, if only someone would come out with an affordable jetpack.

Organize Your Email Inbox and Reduce Clutter - Stop Being a Slave to Your Email

Email has become the most important communication tool for most people, but this wonderful tool may also be a curse if not kept under control. The constant influx messages can at times be overwhelming and leave one dazed and confused. How many times have you opening your email and suddenly felt that handling all your emails has become a herculean task. What follows is my list of actions that will make your life with email much easier.

Turn off any email notification that you have gotten a new email. You email account is not the boss of you, you are the boss. You should not be disturbed when you are working on something else, instead pick several times during the day to check your email account and take care of your emails at that time. Doing this will save you time and even reduce stress.

Create an inbox that collects emails that are addressed only to you. This will be your most important inbox. You do this by creating a rule that sends messages addressed only to you to this special inbox, I use "my eyes only" for this. Now messages stored in your original inbox are addressed to multiple people and are usually not as important to you.

Over the years we all get on email lists for various companies or people that want to sell you something. If you don't need it, unsubscribe from it, usually there is an unsubscribe option at the bottom of the email. If there is no unsubscribe option or unsubscribing doesn't work then create a rule to send email from that addressee to the trash.

If you have a friend that likes to send you emails containing jokes or whatever that have been emailed to lots of people, delete it and ask your friend to stop sending you those types of emails. Those emails are often used for transmitting viruses. If you get emails from the ex-queen of Nigeria that will pay you millions to help her move her money into the US, delete it. Beware or email scams, there are lots of them.

Now you need to deal with the emails that you get. You want to do one of five things after you read an email; trash it, reply then trash it, put it on your calendar then trash it, create a task then trash it, put it in a folder , or trash it. I said trash it a lot because to kept things from building up you need to take care of it right away and get rid of it, if possible. You may have a few long term projects going on where you will need to save the email for future reference but if it requires you to do something make sure you create a task also.

If you use outlook you can create tasks easily by dragging the email to the task icon this will create a task from the email. You can also drag an email to the calendar icon to create a reminder from the email or a meeting.

There were times when I had more than 400 emails in my inbox and I decided I had to do something. This is how I decided to tame my email, I hope it works for you also and if you have other methods to deal with the mayhem then please share them. I recommend you spend your new found free time watching a new DVD.

Please visit my store http://www.thetvseriesdvd.com for DVDs, as well as DVD players, televisions and DVD storage.

Check out my blog http://www.thetvseriesdvd.com/blog where I discuss Sci-fi TV, movies, technology and give some product reviews.

Slow WinXP - 5 Best Ways to Improve Your PC's Performance

If you are running into slow WinXP problems, then chances are your computer is in dire need of fine-tuning, optimization, and clean-up. There are a number of things you can do to alleviate the symptoms of slow WinXP performance issues:

  1. Run a virus scan against your PC to rid it of any potential viruses that may have infected your system through e-mail or through file downloads that could cause your PC to slow-down.
  2. Run a spyware sweep against your system to eradicate any malicious malware, adware, or spyware programs that may have infiltrated your system unawares while surfing seemingly harmless websites.
  3. Run a disk defragmentation program to ensure that your computer is able to access the information on your hard disk quickly and efficiently.
  4. Run a firewall on your PC to protect it against any external threats from unwelcome hackers on the Internet. Nowadays, hackers are not always your typical teenage kid sitting half a world away crafting schemes from their bedrooms in their parents' house.
  5. Run a registry repair utility against your Windows XP registry. More often than not, your slow WinXP problems are not caused by any external, malicious threat, but by the Windows registry database having become simply unoptimized or corrupted. Repairing the registry will optimize it and fix any referential integrity issues, thus speeding up your operating system's overall performance, speed, stability, and response time.

Applying one or more of the above five techniques should result in a significant performance boost for your Windows operating system, and put an end to your slow WinXP problems once and for all.

Run these Windows optimization tools, and you'll be reaping the benefits of a much more stable, more highly optimized, more robust, and much faster operating system!

What Does DVDRip, DVDSCR, CAM, R5, TS and TC Mean

To everyone who once wonder what DVDRip, DVDSCR, CAM, TS, TC, and R5 mean. Those are Video Quality names. When you are going to download a movie is important to know what does mean all this words in the name of the archive, because you dont want to spend time downloading a movie and find out the quality of the movie is not as expected.

DVDRip: Is a copy of a original DVD. The quality is excellent (DVD Quality). DVDRip Quality is ready to download when Original DVD is in the market. DVDrips are released in SVCD and DivX/XviD.
Worth to Download? YES

DVDScr: Or DVD Screener, usually is a copy of a PROMO Dvd. The DVDScr is out before the original DVD is in the market. Video usually comes with water marks in the video, clock counters and legends. Sometimes in some parts of the Movie video turns in black and white.
Quality is good.
Worth to Download? YES

R5: Refers to a specific format of DVD released in DVD Region 5, the former Soviet Union, and bootlegged copies of these releases that are distributed on the Internet. In an effort to compete with movie piracy, the movie industry chose to create a new format for DVD releases that could be produced more quickly and less expensively than traditional DVD releases. Quality is good because video is ripped directly from a DVD.
Worth to Download? YES

CAM: A cam is a theater rip usually done with a digital video camera. A mini tripod is sometimes used, but a lot of the time this wont be possible, so the camera make shake. Also seating placement isn't always idle, and it might be filmed from an angle. Quality is awful.
Worth to Download? NO

TS: Or Telesync, is the same spec as a CAM except it uses an external audio source. A direct audio source does not ensure a good quality audio source, as a lot of background noise can interfere. Quality is awful.
Worth to Download? NO

TC: A telecine machine copies the film digitally from the reels. Sound and picture should be very good, but due to the equipment involved and cost telecines are fairly uncommon. Quality is regular.
Worth to Download? NO

Computer Repair Tutorial

There's nothing quite as annoying as being stuck in the middle of a task on the computer - be it a research report for work or just a regular chat session - only to have it freeze up, slow down intolerably or just plain crash. Unfortunately, computers can be tricky machines at the best of times so pinpointing (let alone fixing) the problem can be a daunting task. Here are some of the most common problems and how you can fix them.

Viruses
This is a big one. Viruses usually take the form of .exe files and are basically malicious software specifically engineered to destroy your computer. The best way to fight these is via preventative measures. First thing you should (if you haven't already) is install a reputable anti-virus software. The main problem with all the big name anti-virus programs out there is that a lot of viruses are specifically designed to bypass these programs because of their popularity. Personally, I recommend AVG - many people a lot more tech-savvy than I swear by it. When you get a decent anti-virus program you should regularly scan your computer or program the anti-virus software to regularly scan your computer for you if it has that feature (it probably will).
Another way you can prevent viruses is simply by being extra cautious about what you download (especially if it's a .exe file, though viruses aren't limited to .exe files).

Fragmented hard drive
Over time, your hard drive may become fragmented, thereby slowing down your computer. You should therefore de-fragment your computer every few weeks or so. Just go to the start menu - accessories - system tools - disk defragmenter.

Overheating
Computers can generate a lot of heat, especially if they're left on for long periods of time. A simple way to combat this is just to turn off your computer for a while and give it time to 'cool off'. If overheating is a recurring issue, you might want to look into investing in a larger cooling fan for your computer.

A corrupted registry
The most common computer problem BY FAR is a corrupted registry. In a nutshell, the registry basically stores all the information of all your computer's settings and configurations. Aside from being infinitely complex, the registry is also extremely fragile - tamper with one of the countless .dat or .ini files contained within its countless subfolders and you might just cripple your computer to the point where it's unusable. You don't even need to open the registry to corrupt it. Every time you install or uninstall something, another (probably useless) entry is added into the registry. Over time, these superfluous entries build up, slowing down your computer to no end. In many cases, all the computer needs is a simple registry scan to bring it back up to full functionality. Check my bio at the end for more info.

If the problem isn't immediately apparent, just go through the list I've set out above systematically. Chances are you'll find your problem and fix it. Easy is as easy does.

Wait, don't throw out your computer just yet! Save your computer by learning exactly how you can fix your registry at my blog: http://computerrepairtutorial.blogspot.com/

How to Back Up Data

If you are like me, then you spend a lot of time on the computer. Whether the time you spend on the PC (or Mac) is for business or pleasure, then you are part of the IT revolution. Data is the way that we create all the details we have been working on and this data is very important to retain as all our work will be lost without it.

In a normal week, I may send 100 emails and receive just as many, I would be lost without my emails and I think I have over 1000 in my inbox! I know that Outlook will of course save all my emails for me, and also back them up when it requests to do so, but this is not the end of the story. If I was to backup my Outlook files and save them onto my hard disk, then all I have is one copy. If my hard disk was to fail, then all my emails and my backup of my emails have gone! So if Outlook wants to create a backup, I would suggest making 2 more copies of this backup. The first copy I would suggest storing on a DVD, CD or memory stick, and the second copy would be best kept in an online storage facility.

Online storage is great if, like me, you are on the road a lot. I have several ways of keeping my data backed up, but the main way I normally access the data is on the internet. At the moment, I am sat in a caf away from home, and I know for a fact that all the important data I need is available in a few keystrokes!

I recommend using online storage - with password protected files - as an extremely useful alternative to a memory stick or DVD. At least an online storage method is not going to get scratched or lost as a DVD or memory stick can be.

Get in on the Action and Save Some Dough with Blockbuster Coupons

Do you love to watch movies? Watching feature films is a common form of entertainment that people enjoy around the world. Every one deserves a break every once in a while, and most of the time people do it by enjoying movies. Americans are so addicted to this past time that they cant seem to get enough of it.

Apart from going to the local movie theater, they also use Blockbuster coupons to rent movies so they can watch them daily. If youre also addicted to movies, you will benefit from knowing where to find wonderful rental deals.

Have you tried using Hollywood video or Blockbuster coupons? I used to work in a video rental chain for nearly six years to put myself through college. We had this remarkable coupon that we would mail randomly to people.

It was good for up to three rentals. It allowed them to enjoy a whopping seventy five percent discount! Instead of renting videos for four dollars apiece, they can now get them for only 99 cents. People absolutely loved our Blockbuster coupons.

In spite of this, several discontented costumers complained that they were unable to receive our Blockbuster coupons in the mail. When I related this concern to the manager, he informed me that these coupons are only sent to people who rarely rent.

How to Get Windows Driver Updates For Your Computer

Your computer needs drivers to facilitate smooth functioning of the associated hardware. Depending on the amount and kind of hardware, which has been installed on your computer, you would need appropriate drivers to ensure their functioning. If you have a Windows operating system, you need dedicated Windows driver updates to ensure proper functioning of all the hardware on your computer.

How Drivers Work

Driver software work to communicate with the associated application to start using the associated hardware. In order to facilitate this, the driver sends in required data to associated installed hardware. In this manner, the application recognizes the driver it needs to function.

Why You Need Windows Drivers

If you have a Windows operating system then you can only install Windows drivers. These are special device drivers, which have been specifically coded to be compatible with the Windows operating system. Using another driver, which is not compatible with your OS will result in the hardware not functioning.

Chance of Outdated Versions

When you install hardware onto your computer, a CD or DVD is provided along with it to help you install the associated drivers as well. These CDs or DVDs have driver components. However, these are at the very basic level. If you upgrade your operating system later, then these drivers will not function properly with the updated OS versions. The drivers, which are provided along with the DVD or CD at the time of hardware installation, can become outdated quickly, especially since drivers keep being updated so often.

Ensuring Usability

It is crucial that the latest and correct Windows driver updates be installed to ensure that the associated hardware functions properly. When the OS and associated applications begin to use the hardware, these drivers facilitate their proper functioning.

Genuine Driver Installation

If you are downloading driver updates from a third party source, other than the official MS Windows website, then you need to ensure the drivers are genuine. Many third party driver downloads come with a host of viruses, spyware, adware, Trojans and lots more, which can damage your computer. Some of these drivers contain malicious applications, which can cause potential damage to your PC.

Where to find the Right Windows Driver Updates

It is crucial to know exactly which kinds of drivers you need to download, according to the manufacturer and hardware model. If you are trying to download Windows driver updates you should ideally do it from the MS Windows site itself. In case you cannot find the proper driver for your hardware; you can check websites, which have a good track record. Always make sure to download drivers compatible with the OS that you have. Downloading some other driver can result in malfunction. It is also essential that you only download the most recent or latest version of the driver. This will ensure optimal performance and faster processing speeds from your computer and hardware. Most updated driver versions have patches, which correct problems found in the previous driver versions.

John Wood has written in depth review for Driver Detective which will update all your computers driver automatically. You can read the Driver Detective Review and another Driver Detective Review to learn more.

Using your iPod in your Car

Using an iPod in your car can be difficult if you aren't familiar with the different options. Here are six ways to listen to your iPod inside your car.

  • Use Headphones - I have seen many people do this. It is not a safe way to listen to your iPod in your car. If you do this, you should make sure you always leave one ear free to listen to traffic.
  • Cassette Adapter - For $10 to $15 you can find a cassette adapter that plugs into your car stereo tape player. While these work fairly well, the sound quality is not very good.
  • Radio Transmitter - There are devices that plug into your iPod and transmit to your car stereo. The quality isn't particularly great, but it is a simple way to play your iPod through your car stereo without dealing with wires or complicated setup. Not all vehicles have stereo's that can receive these type of transmissions, so you will have to test it to make sure it will work for you.
  • Auxiliary Input - Many car stereo's have an input jack that you can plug the iPod's headphone connector into. This gives good sound, but still requires you to use the iPod controls to change songs.
  • Stereo Integration - Some car stereos can talk directly to your iPod. With this type of integration, you can control the iPod just like the radio.
  • Stereo Integration Add-on Box - Some stereos are compatible with third-party add-on boxes that connect between the iPod and your stereo. Usually these boxes plug into the CD changer input and allow you to treat your iPod as if it were a CD changer.

DVD R Media - Making the Right Choice in DVD R Media

When DVD R media was initially launched, each DVD cost about $30, which was considered terribly expensive by any stretch of imagination. While buying blanks DVDs was definitely the cheaper option, the multiple varieties of media available made it that much more difficult to choose one.

With so many types of media available several other issues appear to have cropped up with regards to universal compatibility. It can be hard to keep on top of current media and to know which ones fit your needs.

There are in fact 6 kinds of DVD media. There is DVD-R for authoring, DVD-R for general use, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM. The "R" states that the DVD can be written on while the "RW" states that the DVD is rewritable. Older generation DVDs are "-", while newer models are "+".

A DVD that is "RAM" is designed specifically for media storage, but may not be suited to other uses. Not all DVD burners will accept all of the media types, so the type of DVD R that you choose should be compatible with your DVD burner.

Since it is cheaper to buy the right DVD for your burner than to buy an entire new burner, you will need to find the right DVD R that will work with your system. Speed is another factor to keep in mind as faster DVD Rs are more costly that slower ones.

If your burner is slow, like a 4x, you should avoid purchasing a DVD R that is significantly faster. Instead choose a disk that is as close to your burner's speed as possible. The wrong type of DVD R could potentially damage your drive. The numbers for speed on the disk and your driver stand for slightly different things.

The speed rating on the disk shows how fast that disk can record. The rating on your burner refers to the maximum speed it can burn. Keep in mind that burning a slow disk on a fast burner will not speed up the burning process; the burner can only burn as fast as the DVD R you are using can tolerate.

You won't have this problem very often as prices for faster disks are generally not much higher than for slower disks. Slower disks take a lot longer to burn than faster disks. Different disks can store different amounts of information.

Standard DVDs can store 4.7GB of material. Some older types of DVDs can only store 2GB. Dual layered disks can store twice as much as regular disks. Make sure that your burner is compatible with the DVD R media that you choose.

Although the large number of DVD R media choices may seem overwhelming, when you consider the limitations of your DVD burner you will find that only a few are in fact suited to your needs. While double layered DVDs offer the biggest amount of storage space, only some types of burners can manage them. Pick the right DVD R media to fit your DVD burner and you will do just fine.

3 Cost-Effective Ways to Watch All Your Favorite TV Shows and Movies on DVD

Nowadays almost every film and TV series becomes available on DVD at some point. However buying all your favorite DVDs can become extremely expensive. So what are the most cost-effective ways of enjoying all your favorite TV shows and films on DVD?

Well there are three main ways you can do so. The first way you can save money is to rent out all your favorites rather than buy them. DVD rental services are very generously priced, particularly online, so this is a very affordable way of watching all your favorite films and TV shows. You simply pay a small monthly membership charge, browse the rental company's website, select your chosen titles, and then they will be delivered to your door within a few days. This should work out a lot cheaper in the long run, particularly if you don't intend to watch certain DVDs over and over again.

If you do prefer to buy DVDs, then there are two remaining cost-saving options. Firstly you can simply wait for several months before buying your chosen title(s). This is because they are always more expensive when they are first released so by waiting at least six months, you should be able to buy them at a much cheaper price, both online and in the shops.

The final way is to use one of the many price comparison websites. These are extremely useful and best of all they are completely free. You simply type in the title of the DVD that interests you and you will immediately be presented with a list of different retailers and their respective prices for that title. So you can instantly see which retailer is selling it for the cheapest price.

It may surprise you how much price variation there is between the different retailers. For instance one retailer could be selling a box set of a particular TV show for $150 for example, whilst another could be selling it for just $60. So it definitely pays to shop around, and it's also a good idea to check these price comparison sites on a daily basis because retailers are always changing their prices and running special promotions at various times.

So to sum up, if you don't have a large budget to spend on buying all your favorite movies and TV shows on DVD, then your best bet is to simply wait several months until they get cheaper or use price comparison sites to find the cheapest prices. Otherwise you could simply choose to rent them out instead of buying them.
