Customer Review: Did not fix my Garmin Nuvi 350
After reading reviews, I ordered this antenna hoping it would enable my Nuvi 350 to acquire satellites. It did not help. The Garmin Nuvi 350 still does not work at all. However, the product seems well made, and it did connect easily.
Customer Review: Works, Pure and Simple
My Garmin Nuvi 350, after about 20 months of use, suddenly became incapable of tracking satellite signals. This attaches an external antenna and now the signal is better than it ever was, including in cities where even in the best of days it would constantly lose signal. In open roads I have no less than 10 simultaneous satellites being tracked.

Garmin eTrex Vista HCx Color High-Sensitivity Mapping Handheld GPS
Adding maps to the Vista HCx is easier than ever thanks to the device's microSD card slot, which accepts cards preloaded with MapSource data for your land and sea excursions. Just insert a MapSource card with detailed street maps, and the Vista HCx will provide turn-by-turn directions to your destination. Plus, the card slot is located inside the waterproof battery compartment, so you needn't worry about it getting wet.
Besides appreciating its small size, users will also be happy with the Vista HCx's unique button layout, with five buttons located on either side of the unit. The benefits of this design are twofold: First, the Vista HCx is a breeze to operate with just one hand, and, second, with the buttons on both sides of the unit, the bulk of the front is dedicated to the 256-color, sunlight-readable TFT display. This makes it easy to distinguish map details regardless of the time of day.
The Vista HCx basemap, meanwhile, contains lakes, rivers, cities, interstates, national and state highways, railroads, and coastlines--in short, a host of helpful details for your outdoor adventures. Other details include an IPX7 waterproof housing, 1,000 waypoints with names and graphic symbols, a built-in patch antenna, a USB interface, a hunt/fish calendar, sun and moon information, and a geocaching mode. The Vista HCx, which runs for up to 25 hours on a pair of AA batteries (not included), measures 2.2 by 4.2 by 1.2 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty.
What's in the Box
eTrex Vista HCx, basemap, MapSource Trip & Waypoint Manager software, USB cable, wrist strap, quick start guide, user's manual.
Customer Review: Love it!
I love this little GPS. It gets signal while hanging out in my backpack, ad even locks on when I'm inside. No complaints here. If it lasts as long as my (still kicking) Garmin Legend, I won't be needing a new GPS receiver any time soon!
Customer Review: Very Nice
I bought this to replace a Garmin GPSMAP 76. The GPSMAP screen went blank after about 2 years of pretty heavy use. I am very happy with the Vista HCx. It did have trouble on startup with orienting itself. For the first few hours it had the location several miles off. I'm not sure if it fixed itself, or if I did something to get it going, but it has been working well ever since. I am very impressed with the reception, it has no problem locking on satellites under heavy tree canopies, in the car, even indoors. The battery lasts much longer than my old GPSMAP 76. The screen is small, larger would be nice, but it is OK. I like the mini SD card. A 2G card holds a detailed road map of most of North America (MetroGuide North America).

Customer Review: Magellan 4250
We recently purchased this relatively inexpensive unit prior to a trip to the west coast for use in our rental car. Cosmetically the unit is great....compact and stylish. It is easy to read even in bright sunlight, very good 'ease-of-use', and the accessories are top quality, ie. mounts, cables, etc. The voice function is excellent and easy to undestand even for an old guy with marginal hearing. That's the good. The not-so-good would be that the maps are 2+ years old and clearly out of date in some areas.....updates are rather expensive at about $80.00 from the Magellan webpage. One would think that when you buy a new GPS unit that it would have up-to-date software which brings up another point. The installed operating system software was also quite old and had to be updated (free of charge but a pain in the butt) before the AAA functions would operate. Directions are pretty easy to do this. All that being said, the unit tends to get confused easily if you take a detour or miss your turn. Had numerous instances in CA, when a freeway exit was missed, that the unit got 'lost' and would tell us to turn left instead of right even when the traffic signs said different. Overall, it's equal to or better than the 'factory' nav system in my own car which cost a whole lot more. At $185.00 it's a great deal even if it does loose its way at times. I think we all have that problem!
Customer Review: Update and traffic made it stupid
I've had this device since Feb 2008. In Dec 2008 I signed up for a one year traffic subscription and did a firmware update. I've regretted it ever since...I don't know which one did it, but it now picks completely asinine routes most of the time. When driving on the freeway, it will tell me to get off then right back on. Or go an exit short or further than it should and wind through obscure neighborhoods rather than sticking to main streets. The favorite one I've run into lately is driving through downtown Seattle on a clear freeway with the "most use of freeways" option selected for the route: it says to get off the freeway, drive six blocks through downtown away from the freeway, make a right and go for one block, then another right and go the six blocks back to the freeway to get back on it. Even in good traffic, that little detour will take 5-10 minutes. And a lot more almost any time of day. With the traffic subscription, it colors the road to indicate traffic volume (green for moving, red for stopped, etc.). However, if you have an address programmed, the line that indicates the route you are taking covers the traffic information so you can't see it at all--worthless. I clicked on every option on the device and couldn't figure out a way to change the route indicator line. I think there is one newer firmware upgrade, so I need to install that and see if it helps. There's no way I'm buying the updated 2009 maps for $ bucks. That's a good chunk of the purchase price of a new unit.

Customer Review: User Interface is Almost Useless
This is an extraordinarily bad product that makes me question my recent purchase of the Garmin 60 CSX. The problem is the extraordinarily out of date user interface. For example, in order to get directions to a specific address, the address must be specified in separate fields for the street number, the street, the city, the state, and the ZIP code. Even worse, you cannot simply type a street name but must then select from a drop-down list of every street name option in the database. In Google maps, I usually find what I'm looking for typing the street number, street name, and ZIP code and pressing enter (without regard to "Rd." or "St.", even with misspellings). in City Navigator, this requires at least five different steps and use of multiple drop down menus -- effectively making it useless for me. I give the product two stars rather than one because it is quite handy to have all the preloaded points of interest. If I am driving on the highway and would like to get something to eat, I can browse a list of restaurants near my current location and then easily have the GPS direct me there. More commonly, however, I need to find directions to a specific address, and -- despite spending nearly $500 for a device and software to do this for me in real time -- I usually use Google maps and prints the results.
Customer Review: ? A little glitchy for modern GPS software
It has all the points of interest that I am looking for and the maps are very detailed but the mapping software has some rather annoying glitches when it comes to entering addresses. You almost have to trick it with certain addresses to get them to show up while creating a route.

Navigon 3.5-Inch Premium Leather Case (Fits 3.5-Inch GPS Units from All Major Brands)
Customer Review: Garmin case
The case that comes with the unit does not have a folding flap. The unit tends to slip out and fall to the floor. We bought this case specifically to avoid this problem,...and it works. We are now drop free.
Customer Review: Nice Product
I ordered this case for my Garmin Nuvi 265T. This model has a 3.5" screen. The navigator is not snug in the case; it is easy to insert and remove. There is extra room on either side, but not enough to return the case. The materials are solid, and the flap stays closed with the magnet. I was worried that it may accidentally open since there isn't a snap, but I haven't had that problem.

TomTom Car Mount Kit for the Rider 2 Motorcycle GPS
Customer Review: Expensive but good design.
Nice way to share the TomTOM with you car. Expensive simple devise but well designed for use on a windscreen.
Customer Review: Great addition to a great product!
I purchased the TomTom Rider 2 GPS system as a Christmas gift last year for use on my boyfriends motorcycle. Since we can also use it in the car, I wanted to get him the mounting kit for auto use as well. So.... Happy Valentine's Day! I found this at a surprisingly low price, the item was shipped superfast by the seller since I needed it within a few days. I would recommend it to anyone with a GPS system, it comes in very handy when traveling alone and you are unable to hold it and drive at the same time.

"The Spirit" Movie Review
Can camp and caricatures get tiresome? Well, yeah, they can.
If that's all there is.
"The Spirit" shows that not all comic strips translate well to the big screen. Batman, recollect, had all those great toys to play off against The Joker. And Batman was blessed with consistently witty dialogue. But Frank Miller's attempt at throwing the late great Will Eisner's The Spirit onto the screen is never as large as its artwork tries to make it. His "Sin City" or a few years ago was genius; The Spirit is less so.
All the while as his gaglines are struggling for real laughs, his painted women are simply enlarged cartoons. While I'm a great fan of bizarre visual comedy on screen, I found myself getting bored with visuals whose garish artistry admittedly flowed with peak creativity in hue and calculated mood-inducing tones, but whose energy and involvement level remained disturbingly level. In a word, I kept waiting for a jolt from the visual dynamics, with which "Sin City" was replete.
And the plot? Limited intrinsic humor here. Nothing catchy about it anyway -- probably not even intended to be so -- therefore we're looking everywhere for some fun. The point in the film's letdown is obvious: On the paper comic book page, The Spirit was quite the eye-catcher, because Will Eisner's images could overflow and virtually explode off the limited cartoonists' panels. They were bigger than the print layout. On screen, however, they're smaller, and they've not been noticed for that limitation in the case of The Spirit. In his total persona, he doesn't have as much going for him as the other super-heroes.
Some historical perspective first:
Will Eisner was the most renowned comic book cartoonist of all time. While serious markets for comic books started in the 1930s (comic strips had first been known in the mid-19th century) it was Will Eisner's famous "The Spirit" that was a Sunday morning landmark of the American culture for 12 years.
On June 2, 1940, the young Eisner put together, for newspaper editors who were anxious to compete with comic books, this 7-page then 8-page strip. The Sunday supplement would soon become 16 pages and would include two more Eisner creations, "Lady Luck" and "Mr. Mystic."
But it was The Spirit which would become the provocative mainstay, featuring a Batman-like urban crimefighter, completely vulnerable to bullets and quite mortal but with derring-do action and shadowy moves with which baddies just could not compete. His alter-ego was everyday-man Denny Colt who everybody had thought was dead. The feminine interests were three: the beautiful and spirited Ellen Dolan who was daughter to the chief of police, the spirited jewel thief Sand Saref, and the sexiest woman on earth, the international bad girl P'Gell (sadly for us guys, not included in the film).
The Spirit's sidekick was Ebony White, an orphaned African American child, The Spirit's surrogate son (also not in the film).
The exploits of this masked hero -- whose base was situated under the tombstone of Denny Colt, a rookie cop who was thought to be deceased -- took place within the murky alleys of the dark, this tone very much in keeping with the dark motifs of the movies of Humphrey Bogart, George Raft and The Thin Man.
His characters in Central City were usually the little people, those overlooked as life's moments go by. And The Spirit himself seemed surrounded by the natural comedy of life, even as he was often bumped around and machine-gunned, not to say being quite perplexed by beautiful women.
But it was the style of Eisner's The Spirit that was so startling. This consummately imaginative, garishly expressive cartoonist would go on to become the chief artist of the 1951 - 58 Mad Comics (precursor to Mad Magazine). He was the first comic strip artist to let his characters and his action burst out of the strip's panel borders, surging out over the page. No one had ever entertained that idea before. Commonplace in today's comics, this was quite the innovation in his time. Eisner then went on to invent the comic book characters Uncle Sam, Blackhawk, Sheena and many others. The Eisner Award, the Oscar of the comic book industry, is named after him.
So then, "The Spirit" the movie.
His arch-enemy in this episode is the OCTOPUS (Samuel L. Jackson), a cold-hearted villain of pure destructive intent. As he seeks immortality, he sees his mission as first wiping out The Spirit's beloved Central City. The Spirit will pursue The Octopus through the deep recesses, the dark alleys, the wet and dank caverns of the night. Involved will be various sexy beauties: the ever demanding no-nonsense Ellen Dolan (Sarah Paulson), the punk, frigid and saucy secretary Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson), the treacherous nightclub dancer Plaster of Paris (Paz Vega), the phantom siren Lorelei (Jaime King) and the sexy cop Morgenstern (Stana Katic).
Finally, and hardly the least, is The Spirit's vexing love object, Sand Saref (Eva Mendes), the world-class jewel thief, a good girl gone bad. He can save her, or she can kill him. Who knows which? (As mentioned, the ultimately sexy P'Gell, from the original comics, is not in the film.)
If you never saw "Sin City" this might be a bit of a treat for you. It's art for sure. Very flamboyant, very eccentric, with some real unusual cartoon moods of the inner city.

Benefits With a Cordless Headset
It can be frustrating to miss a call, especially a call you've been waiting for all day. If you're like most people, though, you can't just sit around waiting for the phone to ring. Consider picking up a cordless phone with a headset, so that you can wear it around the house, with your phone attached to your belt or in your pocket. When the phone rings, all you have to do is reach down to your belt and press a button on your phone to answer it and viola, just start speaking.
Professional phone workers, like work-at-home sales reps and customer service agents use cordless headset phones so that they can mind their home tasks while they are working.
Working from home is just one reason you might need to answer the phone all the time, even while you're busy with household tasks. Some people find that housework can be more bearable, even pleasurable if they're chatting with a friend while they work. Many moms have experienced being on the telephone as they're washing dishes and suddenly they get off the phone and realize that the dishes are done, so is the counter top and dinner is made. Monotonous tasks are always better when shared with a friend. In ancient cultures, women would work alongside each other at community wells, but in modern homes everyone is separated. A cordless headset is one way that technology can bring back some of that ancient wisdom.
If you are a parent whose children are busy with school and sports, or if you have family that lives far away or has medical issues, then a missed phone call can be a very big deal. If people are depending on you and aren't able to reach you then you could be letting them down. That's not very nice.
Getting everything done in the day that a modern person needs to get done is often a challenge and the telephone can be either a nuisance or a friend. We've all experienced the rush to get to the phone only to discover that it's a telemarketer. A wireless headset can reduce the amount of stress that's involved with answering the phone in a busy household. Face it, there's enough going on that communication shouldn't be stressful.
Just take a look at http://cordlessheadset.info/
Here you can find all types of cordless headsets!

America's Best Classic Films - Animal Crackers
Animal Crackers (1930), directed by Victor Heerman and starring the Marx brothers, is a celebration of almost unceasing dialogue and verbal humor. The verbal banter carries the film entirely. The plot is almost non-existent. A large party is held in an extravagant mansion to welcome a returning safari hero, Captain Jeffrey T. Spaulding (Groucho Marx). All of the action, which focuses on the recovery of a pair of stolen paintings, takes place in and around the mansion. The scenes are virtually identical to stage settings and the interactions among the characters are theatrical versus naturalistic. A significant amount of the opening dialogue is rhymed and the party guests function much like a chorus.
Other than the rapid-fire, humorous soliloquies of Captain Spaulding himself, the dialogue is formal and stilted. Characters take turns speaking in a clear and orderly fashion. Some of this may have been necessary due to the limitations of microphones and recording equipment of the day. Characters also stand still when they speak and those in the distance have noticeably softer voices. When singing is accompanied by music, the music seems a bit too loud in comparison with the vocals. The occasional use of sound effects such as gunshots and animal noises, however, does add to the slapstick fun.
Animal Crackers can possibly be best compared to some of today's sit-coms. The film still seems a bit silent, though. The music track is certainly undistinguished, but an additional major sound element is missing. The jokes are funny, indeed, but how does one figure out where one joke ends and the next begins without today's ubiquitous laugh tracks? Silence may be golden, but it is also confusing for those of us who grew up never having to laugh alone.

Recently my daughter's old Pentium III Compaq laptop completely died. This happened near Christmas so her gift list was an easy one. The problem was that I did not want to spend a lot of money. The other problem was that I hated her having a computer.
I hated it because I constantly had to work on it. She used the computer for homework, instant messaging, and browsing. Every couple of months, I found myself removing spyware and other junk from the computer. Occasionally it was easier just to re-build the computer by re-installing ALL the software, including the operating system. I track her internet usage through my router so I know that she has not been to "questionable" sites but these things continue to work their way into her computer.
I decided to consider something that I had never before considered. LINUX! I picked up another Pentium III (this one was a bit more powerful than her old laptop) desktop for under $100.00. I added some old memory that I had sitting on a shelf. I downloaded SUSE Linux and went to work.
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the installation was! There was very little interaction and my choices were very simple. In about 30 minutes, I had a working computer connected to the internet.
There are a few things with which I was very pleased. It was running very well with the old hardware. If I had used Windows XP I would have been forced to get a newer computer and spend hundreds of dollars. The operating system came with a browser (Firefox) and complete office software (OpenOffice - which is compatible with Microsoft Office products). There was also a very nice instant messaging tool that allows her to use many different IM clients in one piece of software. It had CD ripping and burning software as well as several audio programs. On top of that, the operating system and all the software were FREE!
Now I know most of the people reading this are thinking, "Ok, we have another anti Microsoft guy here". That is absolutely not true. I am a Windows and web developer by trade and use Microsoft products exclusively (except for using Firefox as a browser when testing). I am a huge believer in the products that Microsoft produces simply because they work and in most cases work VERY well together.
The best thing about this change of operating system is that my daughter's computer is now free of spyware and is not targeted by most viruses. The fact is that most viruses and spyware target Microsoft Windows only. Now I can rest easy knowing that I won't be rebuilding a computer every few months.

Build a Photo Gallery You Can Be Proud of Using an Online Image Resizer
Having an online photo gallery is essential for any professional photographer. Generally we have a huge collection of photographs taken with our favourite digital camera. An online image gallery helps a great deal to show your talent as well as to organize photographs so that you can quickly find and access them whenever you need to.
It is essential to retouch digital photographs before you add them to a photo gallery. You should adjust various photograph elements such as its brightness, contrast, color depth, width and height. One of the important factors is to properly resize the photographs before you upload them to your image gallery. You can use free online image resizing tool instead of a photo editing software to resize photographs quickly and easily.
If you have an online picture gallery then it helps you in many ways as said earlier. It gives you a chance to meet new and interesting buyers for your digital photographs and sell them online. Many websites like flicker.com offer free online photo gallery services. They allow you to upload your digital photograph collection to the website and create wonderful photo galleries using beautiful free gallery templates. You can sign up and try the free membership with a few limitations such as picture size, lack of gallery templates etc. You don't have to upgrade for premium membership unless you really need to. Premium members can get additional benefits such as uploading big size pictures, support for unlimited photo galleries etc.
Not taking care of photograph aspect ratio while resizing photographs will reduce its quality. It will make the photo look blurred. You should go with current sizes provided by online photo resizing tools. You won't have to worry about the size and calculations of perfect picture size if you go with presets. You can use a free online picture resizer to properly resize the pictures like Reshade.
If you travel around the world with your digital camera and laptop then it is always better to use an online image resizing service than software. It does not take any hard disk space as it is an online service. Most importantly it costs you nothing.
Usually it is not recommended to enlarge photographs taken with a mobile phone or iPhone camera as they have relatively low picture quality and picture size. If you still want to enlarge this kind of photographs then you should use an online image resizing tool that maintains quality.
You need not be a photo expert if you need to resize pictures online. With few quick steps you can resize pictures to desired size and upload them to your photo gallery.
To easily resize pictures online, you might be interested in trying online picture resizing service available on reshade.com. You can upload and resize pictures maintaining quality with resolution greater than or equal to 1920x1200 pixels. For bigger size and unlimited zoom, you can buy credits from the website.
The use of digital camera has developed into a trend that does not end with the acquisition of the gadget. This trend also leads to other worth doing activities such as photo enhancing, photo sharing, and other uses of the photos as keepsakes. Photo enhancements such as enlargement and resizing can be done by using a simple computer-based photo application or by using the more advanced online image resizing tools that are available for free.
Alex D. is a writer about image resizing technology for reshade.com. Reshade.com specializes in image processing offering a free online image resizer. Additionally it offers a commercially available photo enlargement windows application.

Making Traveling With Kids Easier
Whether it is spring break, summer vacation, or any other holiday, traveling is a much awaited ritual that the whole family enjoys. When you decide on a place to visit for your break, what are the things you need to prepare? Along with packing your clothes, cameras, and snacks, there are tons of other considerations in preparation for your family trip. Of course, you have to ensure tickets, airfare, hotel accommodations, gas money, as well as list down an itinerary to guide you along the way, among many others.
Although travel with the rest of the bunch should be an enjoyable experience, going on trips with kids poses a bit of a challenge for most parents today. For one thing, long drives or long flights can cause kids to get restless and even very bored, which leads to added stress on the part of moms and dads. Here's a bit of an idea, why not integrate a portable DVD player into your list of essentials for your family vacation? This nifty electronic device will surely be a stress reliever for parents traveling with kids, plus a source of entertainment to cure the kids' blues when it comes to lengthy trips.
Where can you get these portable DVD players? Luckily enough, tons of electronic shops make them available, and you may also purchase them from online stores. There is a multitude of brands to choose from, such as Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, and many more. Sizes, colors, and extra features may also vary, so make a list of those models that you prefer. It pays to select an appropriately-sized DVD player that fits your budget.
A portable DVD player is a smart diversion for kids while they are riding the car, train, or plane. This prevents them from making noise, arguing with each other, and pestering mom and dad. When on trains or in flight, using headphones for your portable DVD player is also a good way of keeping your child entertained, without disturbing other passengers.
When traveling with your kids and your portable DVD player, make sure you have an adequate supply of DVD's on hand, with the number depending on how long you plan to be out on your trip. If your player has a rechargeable battery, see to it that it's fully charged before you leave the house. For those long drives, you may also opt for a car attachment so you can plug in your DVD player into your car's cigarette lighter.

Distance Learning Technologies Comparisons
There are many ways to take part of distance learning these days, and even more technologies to choose from. How can you compare the different companies offering distance learning technology? Be sure to comparison shop before you put any money down. This will save you a lot of time and hassle. This article covers a few considerations when making distance learning technologies comparisons for your needs.
When comparing distance learning programs, you should consider your capabilities. Are you using high speed internet? If not, many of the functions and tools of the latest technologies will not be available to you. Therefore, they may not be worth paying for. However, if you have a high speed connection from which you can do your learning, you can take advantage of the great new tools available. Also, computer hardware is a consideration. If you're running an older computer, you may not be able to get streaming video to work efficiently, even with a high speed connection. Some of the material may come on DVD's, so you would need to have a DVD player as well (regular CD players cannot play DVD's). Check with different services and find out which is right for your hardware setup.
Another point to consider when making distance learning technologies comparisons is the time you're willing to commit. Distance learning programs are under the assumption that you can and will keep up with the program. Without working on your own and without have a teacher to direct your learning, you will be responsible for taking the initiative on the work and keeping up with the class. Though this gives you flexibility, it also requires a bit more discipline than a conventional classroom.
So, be sure to take the time to figure out if you will be able to fully utilize the distance learning program you're looking to buy. If you find the wrong program, you won't get the full benefit and will likely feel like you've wasted your money. But, if you find the right program for you, you'll have found a great way to learn something new with the flexibility of learning and working from home.

Seinfeld (Season 7) DVD
The show that literally redefined the sitcom genre, Seinfeld evolved from an idea of a show about nothing into a sacred pop culture icon. The show follows the life and times of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his best friends, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Living lives of complete selfishness (which is why most of us relate so well to the show), theyre joined by an extensive cast of eccentric supporting characters such as Newman, Uncle Leo, J. Peterman, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, and countless others.
The Seinfeld (Season 7) DVD features some of most hilarious episodes in the series including the season premiere The Engagement in which Jerry and George agree that their lives are utterly pathetic, prompting them to make a pact to settle down. Reinvigorated by life, George proposes to his ex-girlfriend Susan, but is soon enraged when he discovers Jerry has broken up with his latest girlfriend. As a result, George spends the remainder of Season 7 trying to concoct the perfect scheme for breaking up with Susan.
Another notable episode is The Soup Nazi, an episode based on a real life soup counter in New York City. One of most quoted Seinfeld shows in history, the Soup Nazi character and his No soup for you! tagline instantly became part of the American vernacular. The Rye, where George and Jerry make a feeble attempt to replace a marble rye stolen by Georges parents actually spawned an Internet video game, and The Cadillac features Morty Seinfeld and arch-nemesis Jack Klompus at their very best. Throw in Newman and Kramers Michigan recycling plan and a season finale cliffhanger that ranks among the best in series history, and Season 7 of Seinfeld is guaranteed to entertain anyone who loves comedy!

Looking For an LCD TV?
LCD TVs are getting bigger and cheaper all the time, perhaps this is why you are considering upgrading your tired CRT television to a new large screen HD LCD Television.
Here are 10 things to look for when choosing an LCD television:
1. Look for a reputable brand. You may be able to get a bigger screen size for the same or less money, but sticking to a smaller TV by a reputable brand will usually provide a better picture, more features and so make the TV better value.
2. Don't just buy the brand you are familiar with. Just because all your other AV equipment is from one manufacturer, it doesn't mean it is the best for your requirements. You wouldn't necessarily buy a large executive car or a sporty convertible from a company better known for small city cars.
3. Your LCD TV needs to have the features you need now, such as DVD, Freeview / Satellite and games consoles connections. Having the right number of connections will mean that you don't have to keep unplugging the DVD player to play on the games console.
4. You'll need to ensure that the LCD TV you decide on has the features you will need in the future. Additional inputs, FreeSat, HD compatibility (either HD ready, or full HD) and digital TV compatibility are factors that need to be considered.
5. How much experience has the dealer got with LCD Televisions? If they usually sell other items, or non-electrical goods, are they able to answer your questions and queries satisfactorily?
6. Don't choose the biggest LCD Television you can afford. It might well be overpowering in your room, and become the focal point of the room. The TV shouldn't be too small either. There is no point in choosing an LCD TV that is smaller than your existing TV.
7. Consider whereabouts in the room your new LCD TV will be. Will it be in the corner where the CRT TV was? Will it be mounted on the wall using LCD TV Wall Brackets? Will it be on a clever bracket that folds and keeps the TV out of the way when it is not in use?
8. Don't compromise on accessories. Specialist cables do make a difference. Speaker stands do improve the sound, and a wall bracket can put your TV at the right height so you can watch it comfortably. You wouldn't drink vintage wine out of a polystyrene cup, so why compromise when it comes to your TV? Reckon on spending around 5-10% of your budget on accessories such as cables and stands.
9. For the space conscious, look for an LCD Television that offers additional features such as a built in Hard Disk Drive recorder, DVD player, or Freeview, or memory card reader for photographs and videos. It may cost a bit more, but will reduce the number of boxes under the TV, and so make the room look less cluttered, which will help to make it look bigger.
10. Consider improving, or making the most of your existing home cinema system. You won't want to watch breathtaking nature programs, or fast paced action movies in glorious high definition with lesser sound. Programmes and films can be made much more realistic with sound that fills the room to make you feel like you are there.
An LCD TV is a good investment and can bring your DVD collection to life, and with the introduction of High Definition programmes, your TV will make you feel more involved than ever before.
Now that you know what to look for, why not see which LCD TV meets your needs. Don't forget your LCD TV Wall Brackets too!!

Windows XP Services Guide - Be Careful Messing With This
The proper management of services is key in ensuring that a computer will work reliably. Some of these services are needed, some may be needed after some time and others may be not. So it is upon you to check it all out and decide for yourself what services to disable, and what services to delete. If you need to do that, then it is important that you take a good look at Windows XP services guide.
Here's an example of a listing of services that are tagged as automatic as start-up type. The DHCP client and the DNS client are tagged under automatic. The event log is on automatic together with the plug and play and the print spooler. Protected storage is another service that is primed for automatic. Other notable services that are on automatic include the Remote Procedure Call, the themes, Windows Image Acquisition and the Windows Management Instrumentation. The other noteworthy services are tagged under manual mode. And these services usually include the Application Layer Gateway Service, the Application Management, Clipbook, Computer Browser, the Cryptographic Services, Machine Debug Manager, Net Logon, Network Location Awareness and the Network Connections. Also included in the services under the manual mode are the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager, the Remote Procedure Call Manager, Telephony, the Windows Installer and the Extensions. And the rest of the other services for your XP are usually under the 'disabled' mode. A quick glance of these services will include the alerter, automatic updates, help and support and a lot more. Just note that for this example of 'My Service' listing, the computer used is a standalone pc using a cable modem and perhaps multiple computers require other needs. So just to make sure, a quick check with the Windows XP services guide might be necessary. Take note as well that some of these services may not work for everyone and some services may need third party programs.
Now that you know some of the services, then it is important as well that these are managed well. Remember that using 'ms config' to disable services is not suggested. Rather what you can do is to type in 'services.msc' in the Run box. So what if you need to disable a service? Before doing that act, make sure that you perform some checks. Check out the service information regarding each one by selecting the service name links that are provided. The settings of these services are global, so this applies to all users. See the asterisk on each of the services? Then this is an indicator of changes from Service Pack 2 to Service Pack 3. The noted services are 'Standard' with the XP after installing the Service Pack 3. But if you want to be on the safe side, put the setting to 'Manual' or make sure that the listing is tagged under 'Safe'. When they are on 'Manual' mode, the Windows XP will start the services when needed. This doesn't mean that all services under 'Manual' will act that way. To be sure, place them on 'Automatic' if you want the service started.

Automating Your DVD - CD Online Publishing Business
So, you've decided to give up working as a wage slave and have done all the research and now work from home. In the beginning it's a great feeling but as time progresses you don't want to spend all day every day stuck in front of your computer do you?
So what's the option? You should automate your business. Depending what you are selling and in what quantities, you should work on a plan to out source the mundane bits of your business and work on increasing productivity and turnover.
In the beginning, you find yourself being a Jack of all trades but this will soon eat into your lifestyle and become a chore. You may be working from home but in reality, you are no better off as you are trapped and have no time to enjoy your life.
Look at the different aspects of your business and look at what you could do to automate them. Successful people don't do everything, they delegate and automate. This is what you need to focus on to grow your business.
If you are creating your product yourself then look at the different options to have your product created. If you are designing your websites and graphics then look to have someone create them for you. Elance and Rent a Coder are great websites to find people to do this for you cheaply.
If you are spending so much time packaging orders and taking them to the post office, there are systems that can totally automate this.
Watch what other successful people do and replicate it. You may see people advertising in the national press but only check out and replicate the ones who appear on a regular basis. Their business must be doing OK to have the same ad appear all the time.
Follow the leaders and automate your business where you can. Nobody who does everything ever creates wealth. In the beginning you will do everything but this is your learning curve so delegate and automate for a successful business.

Last DVD Standing
As the financial tsunami sweeps the world, nations can only take that many manifests before they clutch at their nearest life buoy, Tropic Thunder, a movie-making debacle at its best.
Who better to "save" the world now then this elastic threesome - Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr? Literally, I reckon, no one. Prepare for a ride pitted with pyrotechnical humour reminiscent of Meet The Parents from Ben Stiller as the narcissistic thespian, wisecracks from Kung Fu Panda Jack Black who has over puffed the magic dragon and Robert Downey Jr's understated impersonation of a variety of African American silver screen greats, "Benson" among a few.
Tom Cruise's impersonation of "Fat Bastard" from Austin Powers should do Mike Myers proud, maybe they were cousins from another world. There were moments when Cruise's character, Les Grossman, rehashed the vociferousness of Jerry Maguire in "Show me the Money", I almost wept for Cuba Gooding Junior's much deserved Oscar. Ben Stiller as the hapless sulky Rambo probably made all the blood and sweat gone into the making of the actual Rambo sequel worthwhile, only to be spoofed decades later by a comedian, no less. Tropic Thunder, I must say, shows that war films can despite the senselessness of war, be humorous.
The script was also wit-laden in its jibes at the movie maker's game plans to win the Holy Grail of Hollywood, the ever elusive naked man, bathed in gold. Who could keep a straight face in the face of the brilliant repartee between Downey Jr (Kirk Lazarus) and Brandon T Jackson (Booty Sweat King)? Anti-African American racism barbs got overturned overnight, in light of Downey Jr's (Kirk Lazarus) show-stealing performance of a tortured soul of misplaced identities, again manifesting itself in yet another African American screen legend, "Bill Cosby" .
The movie had its cinematic minefields though, in the really lame and trying gang members and under-aged Flaming Dragon gang leader. His least endearing moments stemmed from his butchering of Mandarin and bad stunt routines. I just wish that somebody had sense to scrap this part of the script or even invent another lingua franca from Asia to repair the damage.
All in all, Tropic Thunder was a fair value-for-money temporal escape and I award the movie 3 out of 5 thunder claps, one clap each for Stiller, Black and (to me, the movie's resident acting legend) Robert Downey Jr.

Casting Calls Near Me and You, Has Never Been So Easy With These 4 Magic Steps
Falling in love - Casting calls are great and fun - And to get paid having fun, what more could you ask for? Lets have a look at what lies ahead ...
Casting calls are great fun, and having endless opportunities near me and you, to be in the next movies, sound track. Don't get thrown by the fact that you might be acting in movies or music videos and you don't have the confidence or talent - most of the time no talent is needed, actually almost 100% of the time, and if you do have the odd talent, well then there is a lot room for you to play.
Lets focus on how to get started
1. I started of applying for casting calls for new Disney channel shows up to all the nationwide casting calls and have been very fortunate to make loads of money - but most importantly having so much fun and meeting so many different people.
2. When it comes to casting calls there is endless opportunity.
3. There is a variety of open casting calls for kids and babies and the whole family, which can really make it a great experience.
4. Like I said - there is no need for the glamour actress / actor, if you do have experience you could possibly find yourself on the next reality show.
In my experience I have had the opportunity to travel all over, jumping from Los Angeles, Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Florida, New York, Ohoi - mmm, it has been great fun and with no experience, no primary roll, just pure travel, fun and good pay checks.
A good friend of mine recently applied for Captain American Female, and keeping my fingers cross she will be the next super lady!
Very popular events at the moment are tv shows and films, and the hours vary between 2-6 hours - but remember the more the hours the bigger the pay check.
On regular basis Paramount Pictures place adds for casting calls, so once your in, its so easy moving up and before you know they will be rolling out the red carpet.
Remember - Take Action. For up to date tips and advise on getting the perfect casting call please visit ShowBiz. Make your 15 min of fame reality with ShowBiz. I wish you all the best of luck ans speak to you soon. Regards Gill

Is There Any Point in Watching Live TV Anymore?
We now have more TV channels at our disposal than ever before but I'm increasingly finding that I hardly ever sit down and watch TV shows live any more. There seems little point because there are numerous chances to watch these same shows whenever you want.
For instance advances in technology mean that there are numerous devices we can use to record our favourite shows. There is the old-fashioned video recorder of course but you've now also got things like DVD recorders, hard disc recorders and Sky Plus (if you live in the UK). So you really don't need to cancel your other appointments just so you can sit down and watch your favourite shows when they are originally shown.
Plus even if you don't want to go to the hassle of using one of these pieces of technology, you can always use of the many catch-up services that are now widely available. For example here in the UK you can watch nearly every single BBC program for up to seven days after they are broadcast via the BBC iPlayer, and the other terrestrial broadcasters, ie ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, have similar services.
All this means that you can watch all your favourite shows pretty much on demand. The internet really is changing the way we live our lives and this is particularly evident in the television world because we are increasingly watching shows via these catch-up services on the internet.
You have also got DVD box sets which are one of the great modern day inventions. We all lead busy lives and very rarely like to commit to a long-running TV show, which can take weeks or even months to show a whole series. So these box sets are extremely convenient and are another reason why less and less people are watching shows when they are originally broadcast.
Of course there are some TV programs that are best viewed live such as sporting events and live TV shows but for all other TV programs I very rarely watch them live any more. The days of sitting down in front of the TV in the evenings and checking out the TV schedules so you can plan what you are going to watch are long gone, at least in my household.

But this should come with a warning. While many suppliers are legitimate, many others only offer illegally reproduced digital video disc copies.
Many people have become power sellers on a number of auction sites just by selling DVDs. You can become one yourself, too.
