Digital Converter Coupon

Did you know that you can get a digital converter coupon to be used to convert your analog TV to digital? The government has approved funding to give out up to $80 or two $40 coupons per household to be used towards a brand new digital converter to be used for your current analog television. If you haven't heard yet, on February 19th, 2009 all broadcasting stations will have to switch over to 100% digital broadcasting. This means that if you are currently receiving a signal in analog on your TV, usually by bunny ear antennas, you will need to get a digital converter to continue receiving your signal.

It is required by all stations to shut off the analog signal at midnight on February 17th, 2009 in which there are good reasons for this. Going to 100% digital creates better transmissions to your television and it also gives broadcasting stations more airwaves to send emergency signals to. One benefit of converting your analog television to digital or a DTV actually enables you to get a better picture quality than through regular analog signals.

You don't have to wait until February 17th, 2009 to make the conversion as you can get your digital converter box with the coupon supplied by the government and make the switch which will enable you to start receiving digital channels instantly. Most of the digital converter boxes will cost around on average $50 for a good model, but I have seen them as low as $25. You can use your coupon towards any model you wish.
